About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create and maintain a data dictionary and metadata
- Support the development and maintenance of data standards
- Ensure data uses through reports and queries are accurate and appropriate
- Support business and system re-engineering and architecture development to define future data needs
- Provide database expertise and organizational consulting to assist users
- Support acquisition, management, and analysis of data from multiple sites or sources
- Support configuration and management of technology solutions for data receipt, transformation, validation, and storage
- Develop automated quality control procedures to assess data quality and report findings to data owners
- Collaborate on design of data collection instruments, database management, data analysis, and creation of reports and dashboards
- Develop and perform appropriate analyses
- Explain analysis methods and assumptions and assist with interpretation of results and implications
- Document methods and results through data dictionaries, standard operating procedures, and analysis methodology descriptions
- Coordinate consistent implementation of data quality control measures and access to central data repositories with onsite or field-based counterparts
- Perform related responsibilities as assigned

Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, and three years of experience in processes and standards related to data, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience with relational database management systems such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or MySQL preferred
- Experience with statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, or R preferred
- Advanced proficiency in R, including data management, data cleaning, and analysis of complex datasets
- Experience creating analytical datasets from multiple data sources
- Experience writing and validating data quality rules
- Demonstrated proficiency in RMarkdown for reproducible reporting
- Experience managing multi-site study data
- Data fluency in surveillance, molecular testing, microbiology testing, histopathology, clinical records, verbal autopsy, and/or demographic survey data
- Experience working in global health programs, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia
- Experience using high-performance computing environments
- Must reside in the state of Georgia
- Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs
