About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of business unit-facing facility operations
  • Oversee operation and maintenance, auxiliary services, exteriors, building residential services, and fire safety operations
  • Help ensure a positive facilities experience for students, faculty, and staff
  • Oversee negotiation of contracts for safety, environmental, and maintenance solutions
  • Oversee operating budgets and maintenance, rehabilitation, and repair activity
  • Directly supervise six staff and indirectly supervise approximately 500 employees working three shifts, including some 24/7 operations
  • Address emergency situations arising in the facilities area
  • Assist the Associate Vice President with projects, staffing allocation, and organizational structure
  • Interact with internal and external customers and present to departments and campus constituents
  • Represent Campus Services on university committees
  • Perform other related responsibilities as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field
  • Ten years of experience in building operations and maintenance
  • Progressive, demonstrated management/supervisory experience
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience accepted
  • Working knowledge of capital construction
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes
  • Ability to perform position tasks in person at an Emory University location
