About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate student loan requests and package financial aid within applicable guidelines and regulations
  • Maintain scholarship-related data transfers and process scholarship files
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state student-aid regulations
  • Develop policies, procedures, and programs related to functional processes
  • Represent the department on committees
  • Provide exceptional customer service to enhance the Office of Financial Aid's mission
  • Process private loan certification requests in FAMS (PeopleSoft), including fund packaging and certification steps
  • Communicate with students and families regarding loan certification questions or issues
  • Assign destination variables and transmit certification information to ELM Resources
  • Correct loan rejections in ELM
  • Contact lenders, guarantors, and servicers to resolve loan issues
  • Meet with lenders regarding products and loan-related issues
  • Process Parent PLUS and Graduate PLUS loans for an assigned student portfolio
  • Review and resolve issues identified by validation, origination, on-hold, and mismatch reports
  • Assist with system configuration and setup for annual loan processing
  • Assist or guide Financial Aid Advisors on student loan issues
  • Prepare or assist with loan training for Office of Financial Aid staff
  • Attend loan-related conferences and virtual training sessions
  • Inform staff about loan-processing changes and significant challenges
  • Maintain relevant policy and procedure documents
  • Maintain import/export processes between FAMS (PeopleSoft) and Blackbaud Award Management
  • Process scholarship swaps in FAMS, including report generation, testing, file loads, and error resolution

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree and two years of financial aid or related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience in financial aid, lending, banking, or financial services
  • Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based on business needs
  • Residency in the state of Georgia required
  • Experience or ability to work with FAMS (PeopleSoft), ELM Resources, and Blackbaud Award Management
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing student aid
  • Ability to evaluate student loan requests and package financial aid within applicable guidelines and regulations
  • Ability to manage loan processing, scholarship data transfers, system configuration, testing, file loads, and error resolution
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service skills
