About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage client relationships and expectations
- Provide quality-based products and knowledge-based solutions
- Support account growth, increase market share and profitability, and cultivate client trust
- Update clients on product offerings, services, and market trends
- Identify opportunities for ancillary products, additional services, and account growth
- Respond to client inquiries, needs, and requests
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and other necessary communications as needed
- Promote Empire & Co.’s resources, products, services, capabilities, knowledge, and expertise
- Maintain understanding of competitors and market conditions for product positioning
- Negotiate with vendors for additional discounting to support profitability
- Develop and maintain strategic client and industry relationships
- Carry out forecasting and strategic account planning
- Facilitate and manage all sales-process steps from initial opportunity through project completion
- Coordinate actions and deliverables with Account Coordinators, Project Managers, Design, Operations, vendors, and other internal partners
- Oversee project activity, client expectations, timelines, and deliverables
- Maintain client communication throughout the sales and project lifecycle
- Identify and help resolve issues, discrepancies, or changes affecting clients or projects
- Monitor waiting, unbilled, aging, and other account-related reports
- Maintain relationships after project completion
- Mentor Junior Account Managers, if applicable
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 5+ years in the furniture industry; experience working at a dealership preferred
- Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, CAD, or construction drawings
- CAD experience / CET experience
- Knowledge of Steelcase furniture
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Experience using Hedberg to generate quotes
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong customer service skills
- Well-spoken and able to convey ideas, thoughts, and information effectively
- Highly motivated, persistent, and a skilled negotiator
- Plans and carries out responsibilities with little to no direction
- Comfortable working independently
- Ability to take on and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
- Handles deadlines and pressure with ease
- Works well in a team environment
- Ability to motivate others
