About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, and verify assigned mechanical components, including sheet-metal and machined-metal parts and assemblies
  • Develop theoretical mechanical concepts to integrate mechanical and electrical components into one assembly
  • Convert technical requirements into schematic diagrams and assembly drawings
  • Ensure designs are producible and error-free
  • Recommend appropriate procedures, processes, templates, and tools for assigned tasks
  • Support System Architects in capturing, refining, and addressing customer requirements via the POTS system
  • Provide input on technological opportunities and assist with Engineering capital plans, project schedules, and budgets
  • Provide technical assistance for pilot-line builds and testing of new products and systems
  • Provide component-level reviews and troubleshooting support for Manufacturing and Technical Services
  • Assist the Sales department technically
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, guidance, and reviews for junior mechanical designers and engineers
  • Review mechanical drawings and designs for compliance with specifications and standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person")
  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Experience with 3D design, finite element analysis, and computational fluid dynamics (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Crystal Group’s mechanical design tools, including AutoCAD and Inventor
  • Understanding of metal parts machining, fabrication, and assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of packaging techniques for high-performance electronics in harsh environments
  • Ability to inspect products and effectively use a computer daily
  • Ability to use engineering software such as Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Demonstrated multitasking ability to meet simultaneous project milestones and complete multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment and adapt priorities
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and bend while lifting and reviewing computer hardware items
  • May require lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for extended periods during product testing
  • Preferred: mechanical component design or manufacturing experience
  • Preferred: CAD software-related work
  • Preferred: knowledge of computer equipment, including PCs, firewalls, switches, data acquisition systems, UPS, and server rack equipment
