About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own competitive and market intelligence for Lantern, including tracking, gathering, and use of insights
  • Continuously scan public, social, and industry sources for early market signals
  • Own and evolve competitive alerting infrastructure and turn raw signals into field-ready teardowns
  • Design and commission paid surveys and original studies when existing data is insufficient
  • Run focus groups, advisory-panel research, and external research relationships
  • Conduct structured interviews with customers, prospects, and the field to understand wins and losses
  • Deliver battlecards and real-time competitive alerts for immediate field use
  • Build and maintain the competitive response playbook for competitor moves
  • Establish and track a commercial confidence baseline quarter over quarter
  • Produce quarterly executive leadership reports with trends, patterns, and recommendations
  • Partner with data and content teams to turn findings into usable narratives
  • Partner with enablement to train and certify the field on depositioning and objection handling

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years in competitive intelligence, market research, or qualitative research, with direct customer and prospect contact
  • Healthcare or complex B2B employer-healthcare experience required
  • Track record of owning a domain independently — deciding what to track and what to ignore
  • Strong live interview skills: can read a room, probe, and know when to back off
  • Moves fluidly between deep technical detail and executive-level strategic framing
  • Self-directed research instinct across traditional and non-traditional sources
  • Concrete, specific AI fluency — not a checkbox answer
  • Credibility with the field: can get the truth from a seller after a lost deal and turn it into something they'll actually use
  • Experience in a PE-sponsored, results-oriented culture is a strong-candidate qualification
  • Experience building a function from zero and operating without a playbook is a strong-candidate qualification
  • Ability to drive adoption across a distributed commercial organization without formal authority
  • Ability to communicate in formats ranging from two-line field alerts to executive readouts
  • Ability to hold the line on findings under pressure from senior stakeholders
  • Ability to set priorities against stated outcomes and communicate deprioritization
