About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as an internal consultant for business partners throughout the enterprise
- Collect and integrate appropriate data to support business decisions
- Meet with internal analytics consultants and business partners to understand analytics needs and propose solutions
- Identify, collect, and integrate internal and external data sources
- Create reports or data views for business partners
- Build predictive models, including linear and non-linear regression and decision trees, for loss costs, marketing response, conversion, fraud, and other target variables
- Create or enhance tools to simulate and monitor the impact of business decisions
- Provide clear documentation for governance processes
- Work with the Data Services unit to maximize the value of existing solutions and guide incorporation of new elements
- Perform ad hoc analyses and reporting
- Improve data extractions and processes related to essential functions
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.A. or B.S. with major in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or computer science; other majors may be acceptable depending on mathematics background
- A minimum of four years of experience in insurance or banking industry in a technical role is preferred
- Experience working with large data sets using SQL and/or SAS is preferred
- Experience conducting regression analyses using SAS, R, or other statistical software is preferred
- Knowledge of insurance terminology and ratemaking is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required
- Experience with data visualization software, including Tableau, is preferred
- Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
- Ability to develop skills in prioritizing, organization, decision making, time management, and verbal/written communication
- Must reside and work within one of the employer's specified U.S. states
