About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Answer incoming user phone calls and walk-up requests
  • Provide first-level support for technology hardware and software issues
  • Troubleshoot issues to resolution or escalate according to procedures
  • Triage incidents and requests and route them to appropriate support teams
  • Document user interactions, actions, and resolutions in the ticketing management system
  • Follow up with support teams on incident and request status
  • Follow up with IT users to gather information, confirm resolution, and ensure service delivery
  • Coach users on installing and using company-provided hardware and software
  • Research issues and collaborate with co-workers to find solutions
  • Recommend improvements to IT Service Desk operations, standards, and procedures
  • Gain exposure to UNIX, storage, network, server, VoIP, infrastructure, IT asset, IT project, and Service Desk management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Must have completed at least 60 credit hours
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week
  • Preference may be given to those pursuing a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science
  • Residence and work within an eligible U.S. state; this posting specifies Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, West Virginia
  • Ability to troubleshoot technology hardware and software issues
  • Ability to use ticketing management systems
