Key responsibilities & impact

Manage a casualty claims portfolio involving significant bodily injury, property damage, and coverage issues
Conduct coverage and exposure analysis
Establish appropriate reserves and identify severity issues early
Communicate key developments to management, underwriters, and other stakeholders
Oversee assigned counsel
Execute claim strategies to control expenses and resolve litigated matters
Maintain accurate and timely claim documentation, correspondence, diaries, and portfolio trend analysis
Support renewals, policy and endorsement drafting, negotiations, and technical knowledge-sharing across the team
Attend mediations when needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

BA/BS degree required; Juris Doctor preferred
7–10 years of experience in a technical insurance claims role or insurance defense law firm
Insurance-related designations such as CPCU, IIA, or SCLA are a plus
Strong claim technical acumen and legal insight
Ability to assess coverage, tender opportunities, reserving, underlying claim files, and resolve claims, including through mediation
Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills
Ability to build strong relationships with underwriting and support marketing efforts
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and work independently
Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Guidewire, Genius, ImageRight, and claims platforms
Willingness to travel to attend mediations when needed
