About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the EHS Manager in maintaining a safe, healthy, environmentally responsible, and regulatory-compliant workplace
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs and company requirements
  • Administer Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding, Emergency Preparedness, Powered Industrial Trucks, and Contractor Safety programs
  • Conduct inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and workplace observations
  • Maintain Job Hazard Analyses, compliance records, permits, certifications, and corrective action systems
  • Coordinate lead exposure compliance activities, including exposure monitoring, medical surveillance, employee communication, and recordkeeping
  • Conduct or coordinate air sampling, noise monitoring, ventilation evaluations, and exposure assessments
  • Support respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and occupational health programs
  • Assist with engineering controls, work practices, and exposure reduction initiatives
  • Lead or support incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and exposure evaluations
  • Use root cause analysis and Human & Organizational Performance principles to identify contributing factors and improvement opportunities
  • Develop corrective and preventive actions
  • Share lessons learned and support continuous improvement across departments
  • Develop and deliver new hire, annual refresher, and department-specific EHS training
  • Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, learning activities, and employee engagement initiatives
  • Coach supervisors and employees on hazard recognition, risk management, and safe work practices
  • Support safety committees, emergency response teams, and workforce involvement programs
  • Build relationships with employees, supervisors, managers, contractors, and support functions
  • Participate in Safety Gemba Walks and field observations
  • Evaluate procedures, permits, forms, and systems to improve effectiveness and reduce risk
  • Support emergency planning, drills, and response activities
  • Ensure contractors understand site requirements and maintain safe work practices
  • Participate in emergency investigations and recovery efforts as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Preferred certifications include OSHA 30-Hour Certification, Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Ability to obtain required certifications within designated timeframes may be considered
  • Minimum 3-5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience conducting industrial hygiene assessments and interpreting exposure monitoring data
  • Experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management
  • Experience working directly with operations, maintenance, and production teams
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health requirements
  • Understanding of industrial hygiene principles and exposure assessment methods
  • Knowledge of lead exposure management and respiratory protection programs
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to balance compliance requirements with operational realities
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to influence without authority and build strong cross-functional relationships
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and operational conditions
  • Ability to access all areas of the facility, including production, warehouse, utility, and outdoor locations
  • Ability to wear required PPE and participate in industrial hygiene monitoring activities
  • Ability to occasionally work flexible hours to support training, investigations, audits, emergency response, and operational needs
