About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical environmental support to all company personnel
- Monitor environmental regulations and provide technical support to location personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations and standards
- Implement and monitor the company's environmental management system
- Prepare required reports for the Environmental Protection Agency, Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Department of Transportation, and City of Warrensburg
- Maintain regulatory records and documentation
- Interact verbally and in writing with regulatory agencies
- Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001 environmental management system
- Act as EMS Management Representative or designee to the ISO 14001 registrar
- Manage air quality program activities, including permitting, monitoring control devices, and identifying environmental protection system issues
- Gather and document pertinent environmental data
- Manage hazardous waste activities, including registration, identification, transportation, disposal, auditing, SPCC program, and training
- Supervise and direct the hazardous waste handler
- Evaluate pollution control equipment requirements and recommend improvements
- Complete and submit environmental permits to regulatory agencies
- Advise plant facility maintenance personnel on pollution control and treatment systems and assist with operations and maintenance
- Ensure environmental monitoring and sampling comply with regulatory standards
- Implement and maintain technical programs for skill-based employees, including fall protection, Control of Hazardous Energy, Confined Space, and Hot Work
- Support implementation and monitoring of other EHS programs as required
- Handle employee and business information confidentially
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in safety/environmental management or similar degree and/or 3 years of relative work experience
- Fluent verbal and written skills in English
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- High level of accuracy in basic math and use of 10 key calculator
- Ability to associate cause and effect relationships and determine patterns of activity in anticipation of change to the operation or personnel
- Strong intermediate Microsoft Office skills
- Visual Emission Certification
- Hazardous Waste Certification
- HAZWOPPER
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Self-starter who takes initiative
