About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Report directly to the EHS Specialist
  • Support workplace safety and regulatory compliance
  • Assist with implementation of safety protocols
  • Conduct new employee and contractor safety orientations
  • Teach classes related to EHS
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety programs
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits for OSHA, environmental, and company compliance
  • Participate in incident investigations, document findings, and support corrective actions
  • Maintain records of inspections, training, and compliance activities
  • Deliver EHS training sessions and awareness programs
  • Develop and update safety procedures, policies, and documentation
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend solutions
  • Collaborate with supervisors and employees to promote safe work practices
  • Schedule and conduct airborne lead monitoring, sound-level monitoring, noise dosimetry, wipe tests, and respirator fit tests
  • Conduct safety audits, walkthroughs, and reviews
  • Track and maintain safety and health databases and testing records
  • Update MSDS binders and print and stock chemical labels
  • Coordinate and provide first responder and first aid duties
  • Stay informed on current EHS regulations and industry best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Work in a manufacturing and industrial setting with regular exposure to shop-floor noise and moving equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of two years' experience related to manufacturing, industrial safety, or industrial hygiene
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of at least 60 credit hours toward a degree in Industrial Safety or related field is desirable, but not essential
  • Coursework in Industrial Hygiene is preferable
  • English language skills
  • Understanding of algebra, scientific units, measurement conversions, and general calibration techniques
  • Analytical ability to determine cause-and-effect relationships
  • Fundamental keyboarding skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in reading, speech, and technical writing
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Have or obtain OSHA 30 General Industry within the first 90 days of employment
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate hazards
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a lead-exposed environment and be qualified to wear respiratory protection
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with moving equipment and traverse from plant to plant daily
  • Ability to hear alarms or alerts in first-response activity
  • Ability to walk, stand, and conduct inspections for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access elevated work areas
