About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Support workplace safety and regulatory compliance
  • Assist with implementation of safety protocols and promote a culture of safety
  • Conduct new employee and contractor safety orientations
  • Teach classes related to EHS
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety programs
  • Conduct routine inspections, audits, safety walkthroughs, and reviews
  • Participate in incident investigations, document findings, and support corrective action plans
  • Maintain records and databases for inspections, training, compliance activities, air-lead results, blood-lead results, noise dosimetry, audiometric testing, wipe tests, fit tests, prescription safety glasses, and safety shoes
  • Deliver EHS training and awareness programs
  • Develop, update, maintain, and revise safety procedures, policies, and documentation
  • Identify workplace hazards and recommend practical solutions
  • Collaborate with supervisors, team leaders, and employees regarding safety and health matters
  • Schedule and conduct airborne lead monitoring
  • Schedule and conduct sound-level monitoring and noise dosimetry
  • Schedule and conduct respirator fit tests
  • Update MSDS binders and print or stock chemical labels
  • Coordinate and provide first responder and first aid duties
  • Schedule and conduct wipe tests to evaluate hygiene and cleaning methods
  • Stay informed about current EHS regulations and industry best practices
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested
  • Work in a manufacturing and industrial setting with regular exposure to shop-floor environments, noise, and moving equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of two years’ experience related to manufacturing, industrial safety, or industrial hygiene
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 60 credit hours toward a degree in Industrial Safety or related field desirable, but not essential
  • Some coursework in Industrial Hygiene preferable
  • English language skills
  • Understanding of algebra, scientific units, measurement conversions, and general calibration techniques
  • Analytical ability to determine cause-and-effect relationships
  • Fundamental keyboarding skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in reading, speech, and technical writing
  • Knowledge of basic chemistry
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Have or obtain OSHA 30 General Industry within the first 90 days of employment
  • Commitment to workplace safety and compliance
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate hazards
  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to work in a lead-exposed environment and qualify to wear respiratory protection
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing setting with moving equipment and traverse from plant to plant daily
  • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to identify hazards and hear alarms or alerts
  • Ability to walk, stand, and conduct inspections for extended periods
  • Frequent stooping, squatting, sitting, and bending
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs to access elevated work areas
