About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical and application support for EnerSys products and services in the assigned area.
  • Follow company warranty, safety, environmental, OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO9000 policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean working environment.
  • Manage company assets, including a service vehicle, parts inventory, tools, laptop, and test equipment.
  • Maintain truck logs according to state and federal regulations when necessary.
  • Work mainly in the service center/shop and travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with the supervisor for pickup and delivery instructions.
  • Maintain performance reports and complaint logs.
  • Prepare new and spent products for shipment.
  • Load and unload trucks and operate material handling equipment as required.
  • Replace defective parts, reassemble batteries, and fill cells with acid solution.
  • Read meters and adjust charge parameters controlling battery current flow.
  • Perform discharge tests, evaluate results, and make necessary repairs.
  • Plan customer site visits and maintain daily service-cell tracking records.
  • Visit customers frequently to maintain good relationships.
  • Ensure tools are calibrated by their due dates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 6-12 months of experience in field service or a related role, preferably in the electrical field.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Physical ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and schematics.
  • Must be able to pass the company’s driving requirements.
  • Must be able to differentiate colors.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment properly at all times.
  • Must be able and willing to be on-call.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Ability to work in a plant/warehouse environment with varying conditions.
  • Ability to work around electrical shock risks and harmful lead/fiberglass materials; periodic blood tests are required.
