About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide expert-level on-site technical support to customers
- Install, commission, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot complex battery equipment and power systems
- Diagnose intricate technical issues using advanced diagnostic tools
- Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and performance optimization
- Identify potential issues and implement preventative measures to minimize downtime
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Communicate technical information clearly and provide equipment operation, maintenance, and safety guidance
- Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA, DOT Hazmat, and ISO 9000 standards
- Operate material handling equipment safely and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Complete required safety and compliance training
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues
- Lead and manage small-scale field service projects
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors
- Document service activities, maintenance records, repair logs, and customer interactions
- Prepare technical reports and presentations
- Analyze performance data and identify trends to improve service delivery and efficiency
- Champion health and safety, quality, and standards while supporting revenue and margin targets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Technical degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field, such as Electrical Engineering or Electronics Technology
- Three or more years of proven experience as a Field Service Technician, with progressive responsibility and technical expertise in the battery and power systems industry
- In-depth knowledge of battery technologies, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, and related systems
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Proficiency in using specialized tools and test equipment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
- Must be able and willing to do overnight travel
- Must be able and willing to operate a forklift
- Must pass the company’s driving requirements
- Must be able to differentiate colors
- Must be able to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment
- Must be able and willing to work overtime and varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work in plant/warehouse environments with risk of electrical shock and exposure to lead/fiberglass products
- Periodic blood tests are required to measure lead levels
