About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical and application support for EnerSys products and services in the assigned area
  • Plan and coordinate equipment installation, technical-problem investigations, and corrective actions
  • Travel to customer sites to evaluate, diagnose, and repair equipment
  • Replace defective parts, reassemble batteries, and fuse lead parts with a gas torch
  • Clean and neutralize customer batteries at customer locations
  • Diagnose and repair battery-charging equipment
  • Coordinate, install, maintain, and repair battery-handling equipment
  • Operate material-handling equipment according to OSHA requirements
  • Install new or modified equipment at customer facilities according to specifications
  • Inspect equipment, analyze findings, identify problem sources, and recommend repairs or replacements
  • Coordinate problem resolution with technical support, customer service, sales, and other personnel
  • Provide on-site technical assistance and serve as a technical resource for technicians and sales personnel
  • Maintain performance reports and provide a communication link between customers and the company
  • Identify customers and opportunities for increased service business and execute plans with the Service Manager/Supervisor
  • Develop and conduct safe-equipment-operation training for team members and customers
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and clean working environment and assist with Service Center operations
  • Provide oversight and training for new and junior technicians
  • Evaluate on-site technician performance as requested by management
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to two years of industry-related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience
  • At least five years of field service experience
  • Able to read, speak, and write English with comprehension
  • Ability to interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts including discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Problem-solving, data collection, fact-finding, and valid-conclusion skills
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
  • Basic use and understanding of Internet software, email, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to operate a cell phone
  • Must have a hazmat endorsement or the ability to obtain one
  • Must be able and willing to travel overnight
  • Must be able and willing to operate a forklift
  • Must pass the company’s driving requirements; certain vehicles may require a specific driver's license
  • Ability to differentiate colors
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos daily on a continuous basis
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment properly
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime and varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work in plant/warehouse environments with electrical-shock and lead/fiberglass exposure
