About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and/or electrical issues in semi-automatic and automatic equipment used in lead-acid battery production
  • Follow all work rules, personal hygiene requirements, and safe work practices to prevent lead contamination and injury
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including lubrication and wear-point examinations
  • Identify potential equipment problems
  • Develop root-cause analyses of failures and propose solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Perform basic building and grounds plumbing and electrical repairs
  • Communicate with operators and managers while diagnosing problems and prioritizing work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least 2 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Industrial maintenance technical training preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Proficiency using hand and powered tools and shop bench tools
  • Ability to select and use appropriate tools
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Ability to apply fractions, division, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced position requiring detailed compliance
  • Ability and willingness to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
  • Ability to work in a lead-acid battery plant and follow personal hygiene and safe work practices
  • Ability to frequently bend, twist, reach, stoop, kneel, or crouch and stand for long periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in plant/warehouse conditions and around lead/fiberglass products
  • Ability to traverse indoor and outdoor areas and working areas below and above floor level
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment
