About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Produce batteries for international space missions, including satellites, launch vehicles, and interplanetary spacecraft
  • Set up and use equipment for assembly tasks
  • Perform spot welding, pull testing, mechanical assembly, and application of Kapton tape, adhesives, Arathane, and other materials
  • Complete manufacturing documentation during production
  • Read, understand, and follow build documentation and technical drawings
  • Carry out limited battery testing after appropriate training
  • Comply with cleanroom processes and maintain cleanroom areas in a clean, controlled, operational condition
  • Ensure health and safety of personnel and products within the area of responsibility
  • Adhere to risk assessments, COSHH requirements, safety protocols, and PPE requirements
  • Support build process risk reviews and safety assessments
  • Comply with company policies, quality processes, QMS requirements, BMS processes, and ECSS specifications
  • Support non-conformance reviews, documentation reviews, and application of lessons learned
  • Deliver assigned tasks and activities on time and to required quality standards
  • Complete mandatory training and cross-training across departments
  • Support manufacturing mechanical task training and development of training documentation
  • Raise material and purchase requests to the Manufacturing Team Leader
  • Communicate task status, processes, and activities within the team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to understand a manufacturing process and activity
  • Engineering education beneficial but not required
  • Hands-on approach to mechanical assembly beneficial
  • Strong, experienced background in assembly operations
  • Two to five years of relevant assembly experience ideally in aerospace manufacturing or engineering (ideal but not essential)
  • Commitment to hardware safety as top priority
  • Experience and understanding of basic electrical test equipment functionality ideally (not essential)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Logical and proactive approach
  • Strong adherence to following instructions and tasks
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Business-minded and process-driven attitude
  • Proficient skills with MS Office / Office 365 suite of programs
  • Good people skills and proven team-worker ability
