About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, engineer, and cost critical power construction projects
  • Create designs for strategic, large, technically complex projects
  • Support construction of designs
  • Serve as subject matter expert for resolution of technical issues
  • Improve tools, templates, and software used for estimations, designs, and supporting documentation
  • Clarify project scope with clients
  • Oversee discussions with professional engineering and architectural resources
  • Engage special technical resources as necessary
  • Work with equipment vendors to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Perform system reliability calculations
  • Engineer control and monitoring systems
  • Guide sales and estimating teams in costing and pricing offers
  • Assist sales team with presentation of solutions to clients
  • Support Sales and Operations teams in managing client relationships
  • Assist Project Managers and installation teams during construction to meet schedules and budgets while ensuring safety and quality standards
  • Quote and execute field projects in critical facilities environments
  • Oversee design and estimation deliverables from team members
  • Establish, track, and update team KPIs with the Manager, PMO
  • Coach estimators, project managers, and sales in technical matters
  • Develop and refine tools and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Determine customer requirements and make cost-effective, innovative recommendations
  • Generate, read, interpret, and explain RFQs, SOWs, drawings, and related documents
  • Support identification and qualification of new market opportunities
  • Communicate with customers, technicians, and project coordinators
  • Create overall strategies and plans to execute projects
  • Manage change control and implement approved changes
  • Assist with close-out documentation
  • Prepare and review post-mortems
  • Review financials with Sales and Operations management
  • Participate in project design and management decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement and quality improvement
  • Follow corporate and general safety best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BS degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical preferred) or similar technical field from an accredited university
  • Experience in critical power including protected DC power and AC power systems
  • Basic understanding of cooling systems, control systems, AC switch gear, and generator systems
  • Experience in project management and operations culture
  • Understanding of financial statements, budgets and engineering economic calculations
  • Ability to create, document, and present design concepts to customers and operations
  • Experience working with professional engineers and architects
  • Familiarity with construction techniques and ability to apply them to design solutions
  • Experience and ability in the use of SharePoint and TEAMS
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically MS Excel, MS Project, and MS PowerPoint
  • Experience in technical drawings programs (AutoCAD, Visio) required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make critical decisions on a day-to-day basis
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must obtain a Criminal Record Check and Drivers Abstract on regular intervals upon starting and during employment
  • Availability to answer emails, calls and correspondence after typical hours to support a 24/7 division
  • Travel required
