About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Schedule patient appointments according to provider availability and area
- Prioritize and schedule urgent appointments
- Complete and distribute messages appropriately
- Reschedule patient appointments as needed
- Review and update patient insurance information
- Manage high-volume workloads and prioritize tasks
- Contact referring sources regarding patients with scheduling difficulties
- Update account information during scheduling
- Maintain provider daily appointment quotas
- Schedule new patients within 3–5 business days
- Handle insurance preauthorization
- Place calls to patients for providers when needed
- Handle voicemails daily and ensure inquiries are addressed
- Accurately document patient charts
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma / GED required; Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Administrative healthcare experience preferred
- Attention to detail
- Ability to navigate several software databases throughout the day
- Maintain a calm and pleasant demeanor with patients and staff
- Effective communication across various mediums of communication with staff and patients
- Strong written skills
- Capable of managing high volumes of phone calls
