About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Plan, install, test, administer, maintain, update and implement VTAM, TCPIP, FTP, SFTP and mainframe network-related software
  • Provide IT mainframe network systems programming and general product support, including configuring interfaces to other subsystems
  • Coordinate and track changes and provide corrective maintenance to mainframe network-related software
  • Diagnose, resolve and document mainframe network-related problems
  • Adhere to ITIL, Change and Problem Management processes
  • Communicate with software suppliers, peers, clients and leadership
  • Maintain software and products to ensure system availability and performance according to service agreements
  • Monitor and report on system/product performance, reliability and consistency
  • Increase efficiency through automation and template utilization
  • Identify cost reductions, efficiency improvements and better methods for supporting technology environments
  • Keep informed about industry trends, products, services and emerging technologies
  • Train and communicate with Associates and clients about new upgrades and products
  • Assist client applications with problem determination and resolution
  • Support technology areas including z/OS, Z/VM, Z/Linux, CICS, MQ, NetView, NetMaster, TCP/IP, VTAM, NDM, FTP, Connect:Direct, XCOM, capacity planning/performance, networks, storage, third-party software tools and automated operations systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years’ mainframe networking experience is preferred, with overall mainframe systems experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to prioritize and balance tasks, issues and concerns with self, team and clients
  • Experience developing, leading, and managing system programming projects
  • Good communication skills for dealing with internal colleagues and external clients
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Ability to multitask and work under short deadlines and in high-pressure situations
  • Strong analytical, problem resolution and root cause analysis skills
