About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle day-to-day service needs related to the property's physical condition, appearance, and operational efficiency
- Complete resident service requests accurately, timely, and to a high standard
- Perform routine, preventive, scheduled, and emergency maintenance repairs
- Maintain equipment, logs, records, common areas, grounds, dumpsters, and landscaping
- Provide customer service and communicate with residents, associates, management, and guests
- Participate in apartment turnovers by repairing, renovating, painting, and cleaning vacant apartments
- Monitor community and grounds safety and advise management of areas needing attention
- Perform snow removal as needed
- Provide guidance, direction, and training to Maintenance Apprentices and Porters
- Comply with policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements
- Respond to emergencies and attend required in-service training
- Support other communities as assigned
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Basic skill in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, equipment repair, and painting
- EPA Section 608 Technician Certification—Type II or Universal Certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- Proficiency using hand and power tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact in English with a diverse group of associates, residents, and external agencies
- Ability to read in English sufficiently to understand policies, procedures, safety notices, business correspondence, and documentation
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation to older adults
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic computer keyboarding and navigation skills
- Basic tool set required
- Timely and reliable transportation
- When on-call, ability to report to the property within 30 minutes of receiving a call
