About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Processes, audits, and files all periodic, quarter, and year-end payroll tax related tasks, including Federal, State, and Local tax wages and withholdings in a multi-state environment.
  • Registers for payroll taxes in new or suspended jurisdictions.
  • Sets up and maintains tax account electronic portal access.
  • Works with agencies to obtain or verify tax IDs, frequencies, rates, and account statuses.
  • Researches and works directly with Federal, State, and Local agencies to resolve tax return filing discrepancies, including penalty notices and abatement requests.
  • Reconciles W2s and 1099s annually.
  • Researches and answers payroll tax issues, providing timely resolutions and escalating complex tax issues to the Lead Specialist.
  • Conducts regular audits to ensure tax compliance with Federal, State, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Stays informed of payroll processing system updates and changes in wage and tax laws.
  • Corresponds with Federal, State, and Local Tax Agencies to provide guidance to leaders and team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • 2+ years' experience in payroll or accounting working with multi-state and large corporations required.
  • Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Oracle Software or equivalent ERP Payroll Software.
  • Employment eligibility verification through E-Verify for newly hired employees
