About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate GAAP financial statements
- Oversee general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses
- Supervise and review accounting staff handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and billing
- Assist with cash flow monitoring, budgeting, and forecasting
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting and accounting processes
- Support ERP administration, data integrity, and process improvement initiatives
- Maintain indirect cost rate structures in compliance with FAR Part 31
- Coordinate with DCAA and DCMA auditors on incurred cost audits, floor checks, and compliance reviews
- Monitor compliance with Cost Accounting Standards
- Support billing across cost-reimbursable, time-and-materials, and firm-fixed-price contracts
- Maintain written accounting policies and procedures consistent with government contracting requirements
- Support external financial statement and government compliance audits
- Ensure timely and accurate regulatory filings, including 1099s and sales/use tax reporting
- Assist with special projects, process documentation, and ad hoc financial analysis
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- CPA preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- MA or MBA in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience with U.S. government contract accounting and DCAA compliance
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and government cost accounting principles (FAR, DFARS)
- Experience with GovCon ERP systems such as Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar preferred
- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience within an accounting function preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a United States citizen
- Must pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment
