About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage accounts and sales for electric utilities
- Deliver and apply technical resources and transfer technology
- Develop strong relationships at appropriate levels within assigned client organizations
- Promote EPRI’s capabilities and programs to grow assigned-client revenue
- Make general and sector-specific presentations
- Establish relationships with decision-makers and conduct sales calls and presentations
- Understand client strategic issues, business objectives, needs, and decision-making processes
- Identify EPRI products and solutions to meet client needs
- Manage client engagement from needs assessment through sales close
- Coordinate internal cross-functional support
- Represent the value of technical programs, projects, and products
- Define, launch, and close sales of supplemental projects
- Capture client, market, and product feedback for product development
- Document and communicate client value, impacts, and benefits
- Collaborate with technical staff and internal stakeholders
- Track opportunities through the full sales lifecycle in a CRM tool
- Develop end-user relationships to support technology transfer and implementation of EPRI results
- Promote broad implementation and acceptance of EPRI tools and results
- Cross-sell relevant research across EPRI R&D sector programs
- Provide feedback to technical staff on the Annual Research Portfolio
- Cover electric utility territories in the Central or Southeast United States
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required in related technical discipline
- Engineering degree preferred along with advanced degree
- Desired ten years electric power or similar industry experience
- At least 5 years of experience in selling complex technical solutions
- Solid understanding of account management and sales practices/principles
- Ability to drive the sales process from needs assessment to close
- Ability to effectively engage at all levels within client organizations
- Broad understanding of the energy industry with specific expertise in assigned sector
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
- Ability to work toward common goals in a team atmosphere
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Effective presentation development and delivery skills
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time
- Strong computer skills including the full Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with AI-powered platforms for automating repetitive tasks and improving efficiency
