About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide strategic oversight for planning and monitoring construction projects from start to completion
- Monitor financial close-out on all projects, including vendor settlements
- Report status, successes, challenges and key activities to senior management
- Develop, manage and be accountable for key commercial metrics
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and develop best practices
- Ensure professional cost management resources are identified, engaged and managed on regional construction projects
- Provide cost management advice and support
- Oversee commercial change management and change evaluation efforts
- Oversee budget preparation, including detailed cost modeling and benchmarking analysis
- Monitor budget adherence, cost checks, value engineering, cost-saving initiatives and alternates
- Review project portfolio cash flow, earned value analysis and project cost reports
- Act as a stage gate approver of budgets before executive approval
- Oversee adherence to company expenditure limits
- Guide requests for proposal and procurement for design services, owner furnished equipment and general contractor services
- Guide contracting strategy and sign off on construction contracts
- Guide contract policy and audit compliance
- Resolve major contractual claims and disputes
- Set risk management policy and auditing compliance
- Lead commercial risk management, audits, contingency analyses, risk identification and management training
- Drive global coordination with corporate development, legal and company management
- Manage internal stakeholders
- Directly manage Commercial Managers and collaborate with internal project teams
- Manage the regional Commercial Management team
- Train and develop in-house teams on commercial controls and best practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of professional experience
- Ideally experience in data center or mission critical system design and construction and costing
- Bachelor's degree in construction, business, financial or related field preferred
- RICS Accreditation preferred
- Royal Institute Chartered Surveyor
