About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create standard cage-cabinet design options for customer requirements, Equinix requirements, and physical site constraints
  • Prepare cage-cabinet layouts, area calculations, and diagrams for standard data centers
  • Maximize space utilization for data center and customer design solutions
  • Attribute standard cage-cabinet designs against data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure
  • Prepare high-density review cases
  • Validate and update data center infrastructure data within capacity systems with senior team members
  • Resolve standard cross-functional issues and escalate appropriately
  • Address facility infrastructure and customer cage documentation discrepancies with site operations
  • Maintain accurate AutoCAD drawings and capacity systems representing current data center status
  • Investigate and correct moderate data issues
  • Produce drawings and space plans for Sales, Site Operations, and other teams
  • Create customer cage spatial layouts for capacity reviews and installations
  • Prepare drawings, inventory, numbering plans, and as-built underground utility records
  • Collaborate with teams to identify power and cooling issues affecting space capacity
  • Answer inventory-related questions and gather stakeholder input
  • Identify power and cooling limitations and develop moderate solutions
  • Act as first point of contact for the CFR process and optimize data center space efficiency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred
  • Typically 3+ years of experience in data center capacity planning, facilities engineering, space planning, or mission-critical infrastructure environments
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD tools
  • Experience with infrastructure documentation
  • Experience maintaining capacity or asset management data
  • Working knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to support moderate-scope design, capacity feasibility, and cross-functional problem solving
