About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build easy-to-operate, reliable, and high-performing applications and networking software for Equinix’s next-generation networking platform
Develop software services extending Equinix networking services through a network-adjacent virtualized compute platform
Design and implement scalable and efficient distributed systems
Participate in design discussions and code reviews
Create unit and integration tests for CI/CD pipelines
Identify technical debt and drive continual software-quality improvements
Partner with support and operations teams on operationalization, observability, and production support
Drive innovation, excellence, and collaboration across business functions
Participate in incident management, troubleshooting, and timely production issue resolution
Participate in an on-call rotation when software reaches production
Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams

Requirements

What you’ll need

5+ years experience in software development, preferably building and operating highly reliable distributed systems
Bachelor’s/Master's degree in computer science or relevant engineering field or equivalent industry experience
Experience building software-defined multi-tenant networking platforms at scale using cloud-native networking technologies and ecosystems
Understanding of L2/L3 networking protocols and concepts, including BGP, EVP-LAN, and IPSEC
Experience with gRPC and Netconf network management protocols
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other open-source containerization and orchestration alternatives
Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure services and technologies
Expertise automating application deployments into Kubernetes on x86 deployments
Experience with open source and networking technologies, ecosystems, communities, and industry forums such as the Linux Foundation
Good understanding of application development stack
Recent and proficient experience with Golang
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Equivalent industry experience may substitute for the stated degree
