About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the architecture of new and existing Microsoft Azure projects
  • Recommend solutions and review designs to ensure strong, repeatable foundations aligned with organizational requirements and business objectives
  • Analyze current infrastructure and applications to identify optimization opportunities, cost reduction strategies, and migration pathways to cloud environments
  • Drive Azure cost management, including cost drivers, budgets and alerts, Advisor reviews, and reservation or commitment strategies
  • Build and maintain reusable project templates and Infrastructure as Code modules
  • Identify and resolve architecture gaps, risks, and blockers through ongoing tenant reviews
  • Develop, implement, and maintain cloud governance frameworks, security policies, and compliance standards
  • Collaborate with DevOps engineers, security specialists, business stakeholders, and IT Operations on solution architecture, standards, support, and compliance
  • Define and maintain tagging, naming, and subscription-structure standards
  • Work with IT Security and workload teams to implement controls and maintain demonstrable compliance with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud technologies, tools, and services, including containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code solutions
  • Oversee cloud infrastructure deployments for scalability, reliability, and disaster recovery
  • Establish best practices for monitoring, performance optimization, cloud resource management, and automated provisioning
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship on cloud architecture patterns and cloud-native application design

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or cloud architecture, with significant hands-on experience designing and running Azure environments
  • Demonstrated experience in a cloud architecture or senior technical role
  • Deep, hands-on Azure architecture expertise: landing zones, management groups, networking, identity, storage, compute, and security
  • Proven ability to design and build reusable deployment templates using Infrastructure as Code, such as Bicep, Terraform, or ARM
  • Strong understanding of Azure cost management, including cost drivers, budgets and alerts, reservations/savings plans, and Azure Advisor
  • Experience defining and enforcing cloud governance frameworks, including Azure Policy, management groups, RBAC, and tagging/naming standards
  • Experience maintaining compliance against SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA, including control implementation and audit evidence
  • Ability to translate architectural designs into operational requirements and work with IT Operations on support models
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex cloud infrastructure issues
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to explain technical trade-offs to non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with GxP and GAMP5 frameworks, and experience supporting regulated validated cloud systems
  • Preferred: experience with multi-cloud strategies and hybrid cloud architectures
  • Preferred: knowledge of Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms
  • Preferred: familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Preferred: experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps principles
  • Preferred: experience with serverless architectures and microservices design patterns
  • Preferred: background in enterprise application migration and modernization projects
