About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Actively listen to policyholders, agents, claimants, and employees to understand needs and clarify information
  • Respond to approximately 65–75 inbound calls per day using various platforms
  • Provide information and possible solutions regarding company products, services, policies, inquiries, complaints, and problems
  • Resolve issues within scope of authority and escalate matters according to policy and procedure
  • Manage and service office account books of business
  • Respond to concerns across all lines of business using ERIE systems and products
  • Make billing arrangements and correct accounting, underwriting, and policy errors
  • Document resolutions within established guidelines
  • Attend training and informational meetings to maintain knowledge of ERIE policies, procedures, processing systems, industry knowledge, and applicable licensure
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff and act as a subject matter expert for the department and projects, as applicable
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree required; or associate degree and two years' experience in a call center, customer service, insurance operations, or relevant experience required; or high school diploma/GED and four years' experience in those areas or relevant experience required
  • Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software required
  • Must be able to work a schedule commensurate with department hours
  • Follows ERIE’s holiday schedule
  • License in Property and Casualty insurance and/or licenses based on changing compliance requirements required, as applicable
  • Knowledge of billing practices and procedures preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to type a minimum of 28 words per minute preferred
  • Preferred courses or designations: General Insurance (INS 21, 22, 23) and AIS (Associate in Insurance Services)
  • Ability to perform the listed physical requirements, including occasional lifting/moving and frequent computer use
  • Must be available for varying Monday–Friday schedules between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM
