About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide clerical service and support to Customer Care Operations regarding billing issues, coverage, nonpayment, and policy changes
  • Respond to policyholder and agent inquiries and concerns by phone and in person
  • Support the VIN Verification Line Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., from the Westport location
  • Review, process, and respond to inquiries involving billing, policy coverage, nonpayment cancellations, reinstatements, and policy changes
  • Escalate complex inquiries
  • Perform basic accounting functions and correct errors in the computerized accounting system
  • Accept payments, resolve billing discrepancies, and provide policy documents
  • Handle currency transactions and balance the cash desk
  • Handle and distribute incoming mail, email, and fax
  • Learn and maintain working knowledge of required processing systems

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor or associate degree preferred
  • Property/casualty or Life insurance and policy accounting experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software preferred
  • Preferred courses or designations: Intro to Property/Casualty course; General Insurance Program (INS 21, 22, 23); Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI)
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Ability to perform frequent manual keying, data entry, and computer use
  • Ability to occasionally lift/move 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs
  • Ability to occasionally move objects over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment
  • Ability to occasionally push/pull/move wheeled objects or equipment
  • Ability to rarely drive and access heights
