Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assess information needs, design studies, manage projects, analyze results and present key findings to business leaders
  • Plan and manage moderate- to high-complexity data and analytics projects
  • Create models and develop data warehouse programs to meet business needs
  • Analyze metrics and support audits of source data
  • Define and implement research designs and quantitative techniques using high-level analytical tools
  • Liaise with internal and external suppliers of data and insights
  • Support planning, development, modeling, implementation and reporting of data
  • Prepare ad hoc and recurring reports using programming languages and software tools
  • Analyze financial implications of business decisions and identify solutions to business problems
  • Monitor and report progress and results
  • Identify short- and long-term data and analytics goals with leaders and subject matter experts
  • Measure the effectiveness of data and analytics strategies in improving performance
  • Analyze current landscapes and trends to support planning and recommend strategy and tactic changes
  • Create files covering industry, competitors, products, service innovations and trends
  • Develop, communicate and enforce standards for documentation and organization of electronic files, data and actuarial data deliverables
  • Train less experienced specialists
  • Conduct special research studies as directed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree with five years of experience in research, analysis, strategic planning, financial analysis, information systems or related field; or Associate degree and seven years of experience in those fields; or high school diploma/GED with nine years of experience in those fields
  • US worker status required
  • Unable to offer the position to individuals requiring current or future immigration sponsorship
  • Understanding of analysis and research required
  • Experience with dataset, programming, querying and reporting design required
  • Advanced knowledge of SAS, SQL, SPSS, Python, R, or other related data analysis programs required
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and flow-charting software required
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and monitoring enterprise data governance policies and standards preferred
  • Knowledge of statistical and financial analysis and quantitative techniques preferred
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Proficiency with research-specific, statistical report writing software preferred
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Ability to perform listed physical requirements, including occasional lifting/moving, pushing/pulling, rare driving and frequent computer use
