About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain embedded software/firmware for electronic and electromechanical control products
  • Provide ongoing production support, troubleshoot technical issues, and implement solutions to improve product performance, quality, and reliability
  • Drive product improvements, cost-reduction, and value engineering initiatives through firmware optimization and product customization
  • Apply microprocessor, embedded systems, and software design principles to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers and software developers to define, design, integrate, and validate embedded product solutions
  • Partner with Marketing, Operations, and Sourcing teams to define product/system requirements, incorporate customer needs, and support supplier selection and development
  • Contribute to new product development, transition, implementation, and ongoing support

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development utilizing C/C++ languages and software product development for high-volume production
  • Bilingual English/Spanish with excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong experience developing embedded software in RTOS, multitasking environments, and Embedded Linux, including software/system design, module development, and software architecture
  • Solid hardware and low-level software knowledge, including BSP, HAL, bootloaders, custom hardware, Wi-Fi, Z-Wave, and USB stacks
  • Hands-on experience implementing and maintaining communication protocols such as RS-232, SPI, and I2C
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, debuggers, and protocol analyzers
  • Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with Scrum, Kanban, and Waterfall methodologies
  • Experience using Bitbucket, Jira, Visual Studio, IAR Embedded Workbench, Bamboo, and SonarQube
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to manage diverse workloads and maintain thorough release documentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a global, multicultural, and multilingual organization
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to coach less experienced engineers and explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and Visio
  • Willingness to travel as required, occasionally for extended periods
  • Hands-on experience with NXP, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, ESP, and Renesas microcontrollers/microprocessors
  • Familiarity with ARM architectures and IAR Embedded Workbench
  • Working knowledge of Assembly language and low-level embedded software development
  • Strong understanding of wireless communication technologies, connected devices, and connected systems architectures
