About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver a best-in-class program supporting patients with physical impairments living in long-term care
- Provide clinical support within professional scope of practice
- Prepare and reconstitute injectable medications
- Provide clinical support for physicians
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and devices
- Counsel patients and caregivers
- Communicate with LTC home staff, physicians, pharmacies, and other stakeholders
- Ensure appropriate documentation and recordkeeping
- Provide medical education to LTC staff
- Coordinate clinics involving multiple stakeholders at LTC homes in Alberta and parts of British Columbia
- Travel daily by car approximately three days per week
- Attend occasional overnight travel within Alberta and British Columbia
- Attend annual and mid-year meetings and occasionally visit the corporate office in Burlington, Ontario
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN or LPN) in Alberta
- Willing to become dual licensed in British Columbia
- Living within Alberta
- Preferred: some experience within the long-term care (LTC) environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Highly organized and comfortable working independently
- Caring and compassionate
- Able to travel by car daily and occasionally overnight
- Adaptable and a good problem-solver
- Comfortable speaking to small groups
- Valid ability to travel by car and attend field-based visits
