About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work at clinics in Crosslake, Pequot, and Pine River on a casual basis
- Support Family Medicine Teams, including RNs, physicians, and other providers
- Provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting
- Perform routine assessments, measure vital signs, record patient histories, and observe symptoms
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures
- Prepare equipment, assist with patient positioning, and ensure infection control
- Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions or side effects and document accurately
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals on individualized care plans
- Coordinate follow-up appointments and referrals
- Conduct patient intake, update personal information, and prepare patients for examinations or diagnostic testing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current registration or certification as a Medical Assistant
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program, with certification required within one year of hire and passing certification within two attempts
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the relevant state
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months
