About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the legal lifecycle of proceedings for unpaid rent and lease violations, including unlawful detainer, small claims, and eviction processes.
  • Manage all assigned evictions and delinquency.
  • Initiate timely and effective communication with residents, internal counsel, and external counsel.
  • Analyze resident ledgers for correctness, complete corrections, and review for legal proceedings.
  • Understand and remain attuned to local, state, and national legal requirements.
  • Provide strategic guidance and negotiations during eviction proceedings.
  • Ensure systems and data sources are up to date and accurate for reporting.
  • Maintain the highest level of service for internal and external customers.
  • Report on trends and causes of delinquency and provide resolution insights.
  • Assist with ad hoc requests and reports as needed.
  • Embody all Essex Values: act with integrity, care about what matters, lead at every level, do right with urgency, and seek fairness.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • 1 to 2 years of Customer Service, accounting, and eviction proceedings experience is preferred.
  • Availability for five days each week, with potential weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions and short correspondence.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor.
  • Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations.
  • Ability to solve problems in standard situations.
  • Basic analytical skills.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Minimal travel may be required for occasional meetings, training, or conferences.
