About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Welcome clients with compassion and professionalism
- Answer questions about hospital services
- Coordinate appointments, emergencies, and client requests
- Prepare, review, and maintain accurate client and patient records
- Process invoices and payments
- Assist with scanning, emailing, faxing, and other administrative tasks
- Recognize concerns outside established protocols and seek guidance
- Safely restrain patients for examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures
- Provide hospitalized patients with meals according to care plans
- Take hospitalized patients outside for walks
- Monitor patient comfort and well-being
- Clean and sanitize kennels, treatment areas, and hospital floors
- Complete laundry and keep supplies stocked and organized
- Collaborate with client service and medical teams
- Move between front desk responsibilities and hands-on patient care as hospital needs change
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least one year of experience in veterinary medicine or completion of a veterinary assistant program is preferred but not required
- Previous experience with client communication, including answering phones and interacting with clients in person
- Strong desire to learn and apply new knowledge and skills to daily patient care and hospital responsibilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative approach to working with others
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Consistent follow-through on tasks and projects
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing needs in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of relevant procedures, requirements, regulations, and hospital policies
- Ability to safely handle and restrain animals, including fractious patients, weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Availability for overnight shifts and every other weekend
