About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead, drive and own the front-end architecture of the platform rebuild, including structure, patterns, component system and performance budget
Turn designs and wireframes into production-ready work
Set and enforce standards for speed, scalability and responsiveness through reviews
Build reusable libraries and patterns for the engineering team
Raise the technical level of engineers through code review, pairing and example
Drive AI-assisted development across the team using Cursor and Claude
Determine where AI accelerates delivery and where it degrades quality
Work directly with product, delivery and stakeholders on what to build as well as how to build it

Requirements

What you’ll need

Five years or more building React.js and Next.js (14+) in production, ideally on a SaaS product
Deep JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
Real fluency with AI coding tools such as Cursor and Claude for writing, reviewing, refactoring and documenting code
Judgement to know when to switch AI coding tools off
Git
Working command of CI/CD, TDD/BDD and Agile/Kanban delivery
Track record of owning something end to end with materially improved outcomes
Communication skills to disagree with stakeholders, explain trade-offs, and be understood
Eligible to work in the UK
Valid visa or UK residency
Currently based in the UK
Prepared to undergo high-level security clearance
CV and several paragraphs answering both application questions
