About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own board meeting preparation end to end, including agenda design, materials, and follow-up tracking
  • Partner with the CEO on board strategy, strategic narrative, sequencing, and relationship management
  • Manage the cadence, purpose, and follow-through of Global Leadership Team meetings
  • Design semiannual in-person leadership convenings
  • Turn the CEO’s priorities into owned, dated, tracked commitments across the global senior team
  • Drive follow-through without escalating every time
  • Support development and maintenance of decision-rights mapping across executive and director levels, regions, and global teams
  • Synthesize organizational information for the CEO, including organizational health, risks, and opportunities
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO by pressure-testing decisions, surfacing trade-offs, and providing candid counsel
  • Support strategy-refresh change management
  • Build and maintain a progress dashboard for the board, executives, and staff
  • Build and run the operating cadence for quarterly business reviews, annual OKR development, quarterly tracking, KPI reporting, and annual strategy refreshes
  • Directly manage and provide technical direction to the Strategic Initiatives team
  • Maintain quality control over analytical frameworks and conclusions
  • Translate strategic direction and the operating system into executable workstreams and time-limited special projects
  • Develop the Strategic Initiatives team into strong generalist strategists
  • Oversee executive and internal communications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7 to 12 years of experience
  • Experience in management consulting (MBB, Bridgespan, Dalberg) or equivalent structured problem-solving and analytical rigor
  • Exposure to international development or global health
  • Track record of operating with significant autonomy
  • Ability to bring well-formed proposals forward and drive them to completion
  • Evidence of moving senior people who do not report to you
  • Ability to build standing quickly with people who do not already know you
  • Willingness to challenge the CEO with reasoned feedback
  • Sound judgment about confidentiality
  • Experience building operational systems that outlast their author, including KPI tracking, review cadences, and accountability structures
  • Fluency with AI tools and judgment about their appropriate use
  • Comfort working across regions and time zones
  • Willingness to travel periodically, including to meet with the CEO in California and attend semiannual leadership convenings
  • Experience in sub-Saharan Africa or India is an advantage
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; Evidence Action cannot sponsor or take over sponsorship of a U.S. employment visa
