About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install and commission advanced microscopy systems at customer sites
- Perform preventive maintenance and system calibrations
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, vacuum, and software-related issues
- Troubleshoot complex system failures and implement corrective actions
- Execute upgrades and modifications to existing systems
- Provide technical support and training to customers, including scientists, lab technicians, and engineers
- Act as the primary technical contact for assigned accounts
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service delivery
- Maintain detailed service documentation and reports
- Manage service schedules, parts inventory, and travel planning
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with R&D, technical support, and sales teams to resolve issues
- Support remote diagnostics and digital service tools
- Identify recurring issues and suggest product or service improvements
- Participate in technical training to stay current with new technologies
- Share knowledge and best practices within the service organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 2–5+ years of experience in field service
- Preferably experience with confocal microscopy, analytical instruments, or lab equipment
- Strong knowledge of electronics and electromechanical systems
- Strong knowledge of imaging systems and optics
- Strong knowledge of software
- Strong knowledge of system setup
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software systems
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and customer-facing abilities
- Ability to work independently in remote environments
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 70–80%)
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in laboratory and cleanroom environments
- Fluent Spanish required
- Good English required
- Portuguese is a plus
