About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work closely with European Life Science Sales Teams, including Territory Managers and Senior Sales Specialists
  • Support direct sales teams and distributors in driving sales of spinning disk confocal and other high-end life science microscopy systems
  • Cover direct and indirect sales across primarily Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Central Europe
  • Present the product portfolio to customers
  • Organize and conduct onsite and remote system demonstrations
  • Provide expert knowledge to solve customer applications and issues
  • Achieve agreed sales targets for products and territory, as well as a team target
  • Observe market trends and propose and develop strategic sales activities
  • Support and develop distribution partners through joint customer visits, demonstrations and product training
  • Enable distribution partners to position systems competitively
  • Hold regular joint pipeline reviews with distribution partners and the direct sales team
  • Manage and conduct customer touch points, including meetings, demonstrations, workshops and closing meetings
  • Travel approximately 60% of the time, primarily within the territory
  • Cooperate with senior sales specialists and sales and application specialists across Europe
  • Support colleagues outside the territory, including opportunities across EMEA
  • Conduct lectures and training at customer events
  • Participate in local exhibitions
  • Analyze the market and create territory action plans to increase market share
  • Position systems against competing platforms in customer evaluations and head-to-head demonstrations
  • Track competitor products, pricing, customer wins and losses, and report insights to Sales Management, Marketing and Product Management
  • Gather and share best-practice cases and knowledge within the Advanced Life Science Systems sales team
  • Support Marketing and Sales Management in collecting customer testimonials, image materials and application notes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • University degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology/Engineering or similar is an advantage
  • A higher degree (e.g. PhD) or a background in scientific research using spinning disk confocal or comparable imaging technologies is highly valued
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ professional experience in a specialist role using spinning disk confocal technology
  • Several years of experience in operating and/or selling complex, software-controlled microscope systems
  • Experience in systems integration is an advantage
  • Excellent technical understanding of optics, optical instruments and applications
  • Hands-on experience of multimodal imaging technologies, including Spinning Disk Confocal Imaging, TIRF, FRAP, Photoactivation and Superresolution
  • Good understanding of biological applications in high-end spinning disk confocal imaging
  • Broader knowledge of confocal microscopy, super-resolution microscopy and live cell imaging
  • Established network in the confocal microscopy community
  • Ability to support direct and indirect sales channels, including training and enabling distribution partners
  • Ability to identify market trends and translate them into operational sales activities
  • Working knowledge of competing spinning disk and confocal platforms
  • Ability to position systems against competing platforms on technical and application grounds
  • Experience winning competitive evaluations through sales/applications work or direct involvement in instrument purchasing decisions
  • Understanding of research funding and public tender processes in the DACH region
  • Class B driver's license is mandatory
  • Fluent German and English, spoken and written
  • Additional languages are an advantage
  • Ideally live in Germany or Austria with good connections to highways, train stations and airports
