About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define the experience strategy for Expedia Group’s Insurtech, Travel Protection, and FinTech platform
- Simplify complex coverage, pricing, eligibility, and claims decisions
- Shape protection and FinTech products and responsible AI-powered personalization
- Establish systems and principles for high-trust experiences across brands, markets, and partners
- Set the experience direction, principles, conceptual model, service architecture, and reusable foundation
- Lead high-impact opportunities involving traveler trust, regulatory responsibility, contextual protection, and integrated journey experiences
- Shape product strategy, investment priorities, and roadmaps across B2C, B2B/API, suppliers, and new markets
- Establish responsible AI and personalization principles covering transparency, accessibility, explainability, informed choice, and legal and compliance review
- Set interaction and visual craft standards, influence senior leaders, and mentor designers
- Lead end-to-end UX strategy and interaction design across web, native apps, embedded checkout, post-booking, travel, and partner experiences
- Translate customer, business, and regulatory needs into UX frameworks, information architecture, service blueprints, journey models, flows, and interaction systems
- Plan and execute discovery workshops, journey mapping, usability evaluations, concept testing, and evaluative research
- Create high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and detailed specifications
- Use research, data, experimentation, and outcome measures to refine experiences
- Partner with product, engineering, data science, machine learning, analytics, research, content, legal, compliance, operations, finance, and partner insurers
- Lead design reviews, communicate design stories to senior stakeholders, advocate for design-system consistency, and apply AI-driven tools responsibly
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10+ years of professional experience in UX, product design, interaction design, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, Cognitive Science, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience
- Extensive experience driving complex product experiences from discovery through delivery within cross-functional product and engineering teams
- Proven ownership of end-to-end UX for a substantial product area or domain, including strategy, interaction design, and delivery of high-quality experiences at scale
- Demonstrated expertise in interaction design, information architecture, prototyping, service design, and usability evaluation
- Strong systems-thinking mindset
- Ability to communicate a clear point of view and influence senior stakeholders
- Advanced degree in Design, HCI, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience leading UX for large-scale, multi-domain, or platform products
- Experience designing for regulated, high-trust, or financial domains such as insurance, FinTech, payments, or health
- Track record of defining and evolving UX strategy, design systems, conceptual models, and patterns across multiple surfaces, brands, markets, or business lines
- Experience guiding teams through complex problem spaces using data, experimentation, and user research
- Ability to incorporate AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows into user experiences and safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions
- Experience with partner ecosystems, policy or claims journeys, financial decision support, content design, accessibility, and design governance in environments with external review or approval
