About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle business and real estate litigation matters
- Develop cases from initial case development through discovery, depositions, settlement negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, legal memoranda, and case strategy documents
- Conduct legal research involving case law, statutes, regulations, and secondary sources
- Handle discovery and assist with deposition preparation and transcript review
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and arbitration forums
- Support settlement negotiations, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation
- Collaborate with partners and attorneys on litigation and case strategy
- Manage multiple matters, case files, deadlines, hearings, and conferences
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar membership or eligibility for prompt admission
- Law firm litigation experience, preferably involving business and/or real estate litigation
- Strong experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery documents
- Advanced legal research and writing skills
- Hands-on exposure to depositions
- Familiarity with California state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and administrative hearings
- Strong written and oral advocacy skills with sound legal judgment
- Ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines
- Strong interest or experience in real estate or business law preferred
