About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the architecture, development, and operation of scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant cloud services
- Drive technical design and architectural decisions for distributed systems
- Lead complex initiatives end-to-end from design through deployment and ongoing optimization
- Build and scale cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Helm, and Kubernetes
- Advance cloud security and compliance practices through secure design, IAM controls, and encryption
- Improve system observability and operational excellence through monitoring, alerting, and incident response strategies
- Drive DevOps maturity by optimizing CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams on complex system-level challenges
- Mentor and guide engineers through technical direction, code reviews, and skill development
- Evaluate and adopt technologies to improve performance, scalability, and developer productivity
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6–8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on cloud infrastructure and distributed systems
- Ability to independently design, build, and operate production-grade systems at scale
- Strong proficiency in Go, Python, or similar languages, with experience building distributed services
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Helm)
- Strong experience with AWS services (EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, SQS, IAM), including designing and operating systems in production
- Demonstrated ownership of systems, including on-call, incident response, and long-term reliability improvements
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguous, complex technical challenges
- Effective communication skills with ability to influence technical decisions across teams
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
- Preferred: expertise in cloud security best practices, including identity, encryption, and compliance frameworks
- Preferred: experience designing and scaling high-availability distributed systems with automated failover and self-healing capabilities
- Preferred: strong knowledge of observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
- Preferred: experience with event-driven architectures and microservices
- Preferred: familiarity with HashiCorp ecosystem tools (Vault, Consul, Packer)
- Preferred: experience contributing to or defining engineering standards, patterns, or platform strategy
