About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead development of next-generation cloud-native networking, security, and AI platforms
- Own delivery of Kubernetes network Controller, product licensing workflows, and AI-native software development across hybrid multi-cloud, on-premises Kubernetes environments, and public cloud platforms
- Lead a team of engineers building high-scale, high-performance systems
- Support, mentor, coach, and provide professional development for team members
- Collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality software meeting customer needs
- Advise on architecture, code patterns, testing, and continuous integration
- Own customer issues, provide timely fixes, and deliver root cause analysis
- Collaborate with engineering and product management leaders on roadmaps, strategy, dependencies, requirements, delivery, and quality commitments
- Conduct continuous team member evaluations and provide frequent feedback
- Identify hiring needs and recruit engineers as hiring manager
- Foster a collaborative, positive, cohesive, and empowered team culture
- Establish best practices for software quality, reliability, security, and operational excellence
- Foster technical excellence, accountability, and innovation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience
- 1+ years of prior experience in managing / leading team of software engineers preferred
- Experience and passion for taking a leading role in building complex software systems delivered successfully to customers
- Experience building Kubernetes native micro-services leveraging gRPC, AS3, protobufs, Helm, etc.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes Controllers, distributed systems, and cloud-native architectures
- Hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes and container-based platforms
- Knowledge and expertise in software engineering methodologies and practices including coding standards, code reviews, build process, CI/CD, testing, and operations
- Working experience in Agile software development methodology
- Demonstrated ability in mentoring and developing people
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated excellence in all written communications
