About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to project design and testing of mechanical-related efforts under general supervision
- Communicate key information and recommendations to senior mechanical team members for technical decisions and strategy
- Learn and contribute to design requirements and processes in accordance with manufacturing, customer expectations, and common mechanical requirements
- Identify and analyze design problems to achieve optimal solutions satisfying cost and technical requirements using internal and external technical resources
- Communicate project planning status, tasks, and deliverables
- Manage time to meet project deadlines and report pertinent information at key milestones through clear oral and written communications
- Engage in continuing learning to broaden mechanical engineering knowledge and gain knowledge in new fields of general engineering
Requirements
What you’ll need- Exclusively intended for candidates who successfully completed the F5 Summer 2026 Internship Program and received an invitation to apply for a return role
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- Graduating between December 2026 and September 2027
- Must be able to start no later than September 30th, 2027
- Must be able to work onsite in accordance with F5's policies; fully remote work options are not available
- Ability to design / solve engineering problems with senior level mechanical review
- Ability to provide technical information for mechanical engineering projects with reasonable complexity and scope
- Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied functions
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Proven communication skills and ability to perform within a cross-functional team environment
- Understanding of one or more mechanical engineering design tools, such as SolidWorks, Pro-Engineer, or Inventor
- Understanding of linear and non-linear structural analysis, thermal analysis, fluid dynamics, and/or multi-physics simulations
- Understanding of tolerance analysis
