About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Attend in-services or complete make-up assignments
- Keep sites in compliance with TJC, DHS, CHDP, and Medi-Cal Managed Care Requirements
- Perform waived testing and phlebotomy
- Follow FHCSD Policies and Procedures to ensure positive patient outcomes
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinic environment
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures and assist providers as needed
- Support provider productivity as needed
- Assist with clinic flow, schedule patient follow-up appointments, communicate referral information, and provide discharge instructions
- Respond to voicemails, route messages, and return phone calls in a timely manner
- Record patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Administer medications, including injections, as needed
- Clean, process, and sterilize medical instruments as needed
- Collect and appropriately handle laboratory specimens
- Follow 5S and continuous quality improvement methods
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Medical Assistant diploma from an approved course required
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may provide the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties and meet required state or federal certification requirements
- Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, or Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training required
- Meets organizations driving requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to community medicine and providing culturally competent care to medically underserved populations
