About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first point of contact by greeting and registering patients
- Place patient information into the electronic record keeping system
- Manage patient check-in and check-out from start to finish
- Verify identification and update or confirm demographic and insurance information
- Ensure appropriate forms are provided and completed accurately
- Collect specified co-pays and payments
- Screen for eligibility and financial assistance
- Follow policies and procedures for collecting and handling cash
- Ensure patient information is entered into the Electronic Health Record accurately and promptly
- Confirm, request, and process referrals and authorizations for specialty services
- Schedule appointments and make reminder/recall notifications
- Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries and escalate issues as needed
- Address customer needs and resolve concerns with leadership involvement
- Perform general clerical duties, including scanning information, tracking data, and receiving and sorting correspondence and packages
- Support clinics on an as-needed basis to cover time off, training, or as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- 1–3 years of experience related to administrative/clerical support, or customer service required
- Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County
- Proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required
- Age 21
- Licensed for a minimum of 3 years
- No violations and/or accidents within 3 years
- No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements
- No DUI, reckless or felony driving within 7 years
- Valid California driver’s license
- Automobile and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law
- Acceptable driving record
- Medical Assistant Certification, CNA certification, or Medical Terminology course preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to community medicine and providing culturally competent care to the medically underserved
