About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and lead an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with Family Promise's mission, enterprise priorities, and growth goals
  • Steward Family Promise's brand, positioning, narrative, messaging, and reputation across the organization and Affiliate network
  • Translate organizational priorities into annual plans, budgets, baselines, performance measures, and investment sequencing
  • Advise the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board on brand, reputation, audience engagement, communications, and marketing opportunities and risks
  • Position Family Promise and its leaders as authoritative national voices on family homelessness and community-based solutions
  • Lead content, storytelling, media relations, and executive communications strategy
  • Build editorial and storytelling infrastructure drawing from the national network
  • Lead marketing strategy for the digital ecosystem, including the national website and Affiliate digital experiences
  • Establish priority audiences, channel roles, user journeys, and integrated web, email, social, search, paid media, and emerging-channel approaches
  • Build analytics and measurement foundations to assess performance, improve conversion, and guide investment
  • Partner with Development and other teams on donor engagement, campaigns, service navigation, and Affiliate engagement
  • Build and manage the marketing and communications function, including structure, capabilities, operating model, workflows, and planning rhythms
  • Recruit, lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team
  • Manage agencies, consultants, and external partners with clear scopes, budgets, and performance expectations
  • Build cross-functional partnerships and tools for Development, Programs, Advocacy, Affiliate Services, and local Affiliates

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, communications, public relations, brand, or related disciplines, including significant senior leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrated success building or transforming an integrated marketing and communications function, team, or operating model in a complex nonprofit, mission-driven, corporate, agency, association, or multi-stakeholder environment
  • Deep expertise across brand strategy, positioning, messaging, content, public/media relations, executive communications, digital marketing, audience strategy, analytics, and performance measurement
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, manage teams and external partners, advise senior executives and Boards, and translate complex issues into clear, compelling communications
