About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Cultivate and sustain high-impact relationships with government officials, including Administration and executive agency leaders, U.S. Senators, Members of the House of Representatives, and state and local policymakers
  • Keep Fanatics leadership informed through timely, in-depth analyses of current and proposed legislation affecting retail, sports, sports betting, and e-commerce
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assess business impacts, and develop advocacy strategies
  • Develop executive summaries, position papers, and advocacy briefs articulating Fanatics’ policy positions
  • Manage external consultants, engage internal stakeholders, and oversee special projects
  • Present Fanatics’ policy positions to government officials, trade associations, coalitions, and industry stakeholders
  • Strengthen partnerships with trade associations, advocacy groups, and community organizations
  • Develop and execute creative advocacy strategies
  • Organize site visits, retail events, and media engagements for elected officials
  • Report to the SVP, Head of Fanatics Global Government Relations team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Deep understanding of public policy and ability to distill complex regulatory issues into clear, actionable insights
  • Extensive experience in and understanding of the legislative and regulatory process
  • 10+ years of Congressional, federal government, or federal government affairs experience in Washington, including meaningful congressional experience and working across the aisle
  • Political campaign and electoral experience highly valued
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to navigate complex policy challenges, persuade stakeholders, and drive favorable outcomes
  • Demonstrated success in leading teams and managing projects from strategy development through execution
  • Ability to work independently while fostering cross-functional collaboration
  • Passion for shaping and elevating the corporate narrative through strategic communications
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards, confidentiality, and professional excellence
